What are CMS?

Great! I can manage my content with a system!

A Content Management System, or CMS, is a software system that allows you to have total control over the information, or content, text images and files on your website.

Typically a CMS will provide a Web GUI, Graphical User Interface, accessible via any Internet Browser to a back-end office like system with a familiar WYSIWYG (What You See Is What you Get), similar to Microsoft Word, that gives you the chance to write totally new content, edit existing content with full control to publish and delete them instantly.

Content management systems are easy to use, fit for many applications and requirements and can be deployed for interactive use by a potentially large number of contributors accessible from anywhere in the world (with an internet connection).

Popular Content Management Systems include Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, Moodle and TinyCMS but the list is almost endless with systems spanning multiple platforms and to fit a range of user requirements from Education, Content Collaboration, Website Management, Ecommerce, Image and Video and more…
